Manuscript Critiques

The deadline for manuscript critiques is May 22, 2012.

Manuscripts critiques have always been an important part of the Jackson Hole Writers Conference. We accept manuscripts as Word document attachments. You will receive one-on-one feedback about your work from three different faculty members. The fee is $30. We encourage you to submit a manuscript. This will enhance your conference experience and give you the rare opportunity to receive professional evaluation of your work. In addition to the standard three critiques, there is an extended critique available for $110. See below for details.

Prose

Prose Guidelines:

* Manuscripts should be no longer than 15 pages (20 pages for screenplays) plus a Title page with author’s name, address, e-mail address if you have one, and a phone number.
* Typewritten or laser-printed.
* Double-spaced.
* No smaller than 12 point.
* Identified as fiction, nonfiction, young adult, or magazine.

Prose Submission Options:

#1 – Send prose as email attachment (we encourage you to use this option).

Submissions must be emailed by May 21, 2012, as a Word doc attachment to manuscripts@jacksonholewritersconference.com.

You will receive confirmation that it arrived and we were able to open the attachment. If you don’t receive confirmation within one week there may have been a problem with delivery. If you don't hear from us with one week, please email connie@blackhen.com,

#2 — Send your manuscript by mail (U.S. Post only).

Your submission must be postmarked by May 21, 2011, made into three (3) copies, and sent to:

You will be sent a post card or email confirmation when we receive the manuscript. If you don’t get the post card (or e-mail) within two weeks, email connie@blackhen.com,

Poetry

Poetry Guidelines:

* Five poems, no longer than 10 pages plus a Title page with author’s name, address, e-mail address and phone number.
* Typewritten or laser printed.
* Double-spaced.
* No smaller than 12 point.
* Identified as Poetry.

Poetry Submission Options:

Submissions may be emailed by May 22, 2012, and attached as a Word document and emailed to manuscripts@jacksonholewritersconference.com.

#2 — Send your poetry manuscript by mail (U.S. Post only).

Submissions must be postmarked by May 22, 2012, and made into three (3) copies, and sent to:

Optional Extended Manuscript Evaluations:

Prose

In addition to the 15-page basic evaluations for $30, you may also submit a longer manuscript of up to 40 pages for an additional $110. This fee includes a one-hour, one-on-one discussion of your manuscript with a faculty member.

Deadline: Postmarked by May 22. 2012.

Poetry

Twelve poems no longer than twenty pages.

Should you decide later, after your initial registration, that you would like regular or extended manuscript critiques, these can be arranged by calling or writing by May 22, 2012; we charge an additional $25 late fee for manuscripts and they receive two critiques instead of three.
